Thai cellular operator spends another 1.6 billion baht to expand network.

Aug. 19--Advanced Info Service (AIS) announced yesterday it will spend an additional 1.6 billion baht by the end of this year to boost its high-speed intelligent networking capacity to meet increasing demand for its non-voice services.

The additional budget brings the total investment by the country's largest cellular operator to 10 billion baht this year, with more than 60 percent earmarked for infrastructure development.

Another 1.58 billion baht is to be spent on network quality improvement, with 1.43 billion on support systems. Total investment will also include another four billion baht left over from the 2003 …
