FED: Head of plastic surgery slams penis enlargements
The head of plastic surgery's professional body says men who ask for a surgical penisenlargement are showing profound psychological disturbance.
But Dr ALFRED LEWIS, president of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgery, says thesame can't be said of a woman seeking a breast enlargement.
Dr LEWIS says women want to have big breasts to look right in clothes, in public.
He says a penis enlargement is not public but private, and is a completely unnecessary operation.
Dr LEWIS, speaking at an international plastic surgery conference in Sydney, says theprocedure is fraught with complications including infection, lumpiness and loss of skin.
But he says the most common complication is the failure for the operation to make any difference.
